a Space to Be for, and by, QTIPOC+ in Glasgow and beyond

Space to Be is a 12-month project, delivered in partnership with Parhelia CIC, for people (16+) identifying as QTIPOC+ (Queer/Trans/Intersex People of Colour) living in Glasgow.

Space to Be focuses on creativity as a way to learn more about ourselves and each other, finding new ways to express who we are. By exploring self-expression in this way and seeing ourselves represented we can begin to accept the different parts of our identities and mend the tensions between our culture and identity.

The project aims to help young people identifying as QTIPOC+ to find community and to build resilience by increasing self-confidence and self-acceptance by positively exploring our identities through creative methods in a safe and nurturing space.

All workshops are free to attend and food will be provided at each session. Held every 2 weeks, from May 2023 until May 2024 with a focus on film, writing and art, featuring local QTIPOC+ creatives who will help to guide our journey.

Following the facilitated creative workshops, there will be open creative sessions which people can drop in and create whatever they like with arts materials provided!

Space to Be is centred around a singular goal: to reduce social isolation. We believe in the concept of Community as the unit of resilience - which requires us to Be together.
